The Properties dialogue
This dialogue consists of the following elements that do all represent properties of the editable object:
Section "Edge":
"Identifier": A name for the edge that is unambiguous among its neighbours. The name must consist entirely of letters, digits and the underscore; it must start with a lower-case letter. If you specify "Auto generate", the identifier will be generated from the edge-label automatically as you push the <Ok> or <Activate> button.
"Label": A text that will be displayed above the edge in the document view (optional).
"Note": A text that will be displayed at the bottom of the document view or inside the object note window as the user moves/clicks on the edge with his mouse (optional).
Section "Node" (referring to the node following the edge above):
"Ramification": The marked node is a ramification (And leaf) or will be converted to this type as the button <Ok> or <Activate> is pushed.
"Decision": The marked node is a decision node or will be converted to this type as the button <Ok> or <Activate> is pushed.
"Multi-Decision": The marked node is a multi-decision node or will be converted to this type as the button <Ok> or <Activate> is pushed.
"Text": The marked node is a text leaf or will be converted to this type as the button <Ok> or <Activate> is pushed. Fill out or modify the text area to its right as appropriate and specify the number of "Rows" and "Cols" (columns) the text-leaf dialogue should be sized to as the user is prompted to fill out the text-leaf.
"Ending": The marked node is an ending (a "ramification" without children) or will be converted to this type as the button <Ok> or <Activate> is pushed.
"Filename": The (file)name of the marked node (optional). If a <name> is specified, the node (with its complete branch) will be stored as a subtree to the file <name> as the document is saved as a tree source to a file. That file will contain a reference (include node) to the so-called include-file <name>. If a relative path to the file is specified, the path refers to the directory of the including file (or the current working directory if the name belongs to the root node).
Use <Browse> to search for an existing file. If you specify an existing file at "Name" and then activate your changes with <Ok> or <Activate>, you will be asked if to insert the file's content instead of the existing node (with its complete subtree!). This way you can paste included files into your document subsequently after loading the document from disk.
"Note": A text that will be displayed at the bottom of the document view or inside the object note window as the user moves/clicks on the node with the mouse (optional).
Command buttons:
<Ok>: Activates changes of the properties and closes the dialogue (since the dialogue is modeless, you can use <Activate> instead of <Ok> to let the dialogue stay visible after changing properties of the editable object).
<Cancel>: Rejects all changes and closes the dialogue.
<Activate>: Activates changes.
